Block Party at West Monroe Guest House - During nursing home week, the elders and staff of the West Monroe Guest House community enjoyed a special "neighborhood" event. The Block Parties are a regular event at the nursing home. Each neighborhood hosts their own "gathering" and staff members adopt a neighborhood to assist in planning the event. Employees bring food that they prepare at home. It's a very special extra effort on the part of staff and employees, and it helps to create a home-like environment that brings a special satisfaction to the resident. Residents expressed their feelings by saying the "block parties" felt more like "homecoming." For more information call GiGi Shoemaker (The Oaks) at (318) 387-5300.
